The film, first released in 1983, displays many aspects of traditional Chinese culture. The Legend of Sealed Book tells the story of how two boys fight against three fox spirits. The look of the three fox spirits comes from Peking Opera makeup (造型). The waters and mountains are in the style of traditional Chinese ink wash paintings.
China’s first ink wash animation (动画) actually came out in 1960. The film Little Tadpole (蝌蚪) Looking for Mummy has all the elements of the animals, plants and rocks drawn with ink and brush. The animators (动画制作者) learned from the great artist Qi Baishi. The film is only about 15 minutes long, but it took lots of work. Without computers, the animators had to draw everything by hand. To save time, the clever artists stamped the tadpoles’ bodies on paper with a special seal.
In the past few years, ink wash animation have become popular in China. Now, animators are combining ink wash painting with computer technology. China and Western countries may have different cultural beliefs about certain animals, but when it comes to pigs, we have somehow reached an agreement—that pigs are ugly, lazy, stupid and shameless.
Just look at the idioms and phrases in our languages. In Chinese, we have the likes of “Boiling a dead pig” and “A pig looking in the mirror is still a pig”. And in English, there are expressions such as “eating like a pig” and “sweating like a pig”. None of them are exactly praise.
But truth is that pigs do have some fine qualities. And maybe there’s no better time to clear their names than now, with the arrival of Year of the Pig on Chinese Spring Festival.
For starters, science had proved that pigs aren’t stupid at all. According to a paper published last year in the International Journal of Comparative Psychology, pigs are “mentally and socially similar to dogs and chimpanzees(黑猩猩)”. By training, pigs can learn some skills, such as dancing and swimming. They like to play. They have good long-term memories. And they can tell between who treat them well and those who don’t.
There are popular pig characters in cartoons too. In the UK cartoon series Peppa Pig, the four members of the cartoon’s pig family teach children from all over the world about love, friendship, and the value of family. And in China, the adventures of McDull, a piglet who works hard toward his dreams even though he keeps failing, have been recounted in films since 2001. “People care too much about the immediate results, but McDull is slow and patient, and not afraid of repeating failure,” said McDull’s creator Brain Tse. “He has a heart of gold.”
Perhaps these are the qualities of pigs to keep in heart when we celebrate the New Year—their wisdom, cuteness, patience and bravery.
53. The writer mentioned some idioms and phrases in Paragraph 2 mainly to show________.

Today, our children spend more and more time online. Many children spend a lot of their free time playing games on the Internet, on video game systems or on their mobile phones. In the UK, 99% of teen kids aged 8 to 15 play video games every week, and children as young as five play video games regularly (有规律地). This information tells that the advantages and dangers of video games must be carefully considered.
For many people, They have bright lights, funny cartoons and exciting stories. Video games also make you think in a creative way and you have to move your hands and eyes quickly. This can improve the way that a child’s brain works. Video games also make children use their imagination (想象力). The player has to do many creative things, like drawing and building things. Video games are also a good way to teach children about technology because they can learn how computers and other devices (设备) work while they play.
However, a recent study suggests that video games can also be bad for children. First, children can download (下载) many games for free. They don’t need money, so they don’t need to ask their parents if they can download the games. This means that parents often don’t know if their children are playing violent (暴力的) or scary games. Second, many children spend too much time playing games on computers, smartphones and iPads and this can lead to health problems – children who spend too much time on the computer and don’t exercise can become overweight. Third, if children spend too much time playing games instead of doing homework, they can have problems at school and get bad grades. Finally, video games can affect children’s social skills, they might not learn how to play with their friends.
In conclusion, it seems clear that video games have some advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, they are fun and educational. On the other hand, they can cause problems with children’s health and social skills. It is up to parents to know what games their children are playing and how much time they spend on them. Parents should also make sure their children get enough exercise and spend time with other children.

八、阅读表达。(共5小题, 每小题2分, 计10分)
Have you had a headache during a test Have you ever been so worried about something that you have a headache or even can’t sleep well at night If so, then you know what stress is. Stress is a feeling when you are worried about something. Too much worry in your mind may make you feel uncomfortable. It can even make your body feel bad or give you a stomachache or a headache. Stress can influence both your mind and body.
However, there are different kinds of stress. Some kinds of stress are good and others are bad. Good stress might happen when you’re called to answer questions in class or when you have to give a speech. This kind of stress can help you to get things better done. For example, you may do a better job in your test if the stress pushes you to prepare better before the test.
On the other hand, bad stress can happen if the stress lasts too long. You may not feel well if your parents are fighting, if a family member is sick, if you’re having problems at school, or if anything else makes you unhappy every day. This kind of stress isn’t going to help you. And it can actually make you sick.
The best way to face the stress is to have a balanced life. Make sure you keep yourself in mind: sleep, exercise, leisure(休闲), and food. If you get enough sleep and eat healthily, and if you exercise and leave time for fun, you’ll probably feel less stressed.
